Finn's Tale - feedback

A breath of fresh air, a gentle tale of mystery and morality that lifts the soul. Andrew Kemp, The Chiron Centre, Bristol

Finn's Tale is fascinating and is a great adventure to picture in your mind and imagine you were there. Findlay Hunter, age 10, Kinross

I loved the adventure and hope there will be more books. Ross Hunter, age 8, Kinross

The boys couldn't wait to hear the next instalment. It really captured their imaginations.  While reading the story, they thought about what had come before and were really proud that they were able to work out who Tom was before it was revealed.  Well done. Lynn Hunter, Kinross

Finn's Tale tells an everyday story about growing up which isn't always a nice thing to do. Through a chance meeting with some very "special folk" Finn learns that life isn't easy but there is always someone you can turn to. I feel this books deals with timeless issues and would help all its readers to deal with some of the hard knocks life can put you through. Annie Ryan, Sheffield

I read your book whilst we were away on holiday and really enjoyed it.  Looking forward to the next instalment. Elaine Jesson, Aarhus, Denmark

We love the story, it’s so vivid in my mind that I can smell, taste and hear all the things...I feel as though I’m in the story.  I’m so tempted to read to the end but I promised Ori, my daughter, that we would read it together. She reads a page then so do I, and it's great coz she says "Oh mum some of those words are hard!!!" so it is definitely improving her vocabulary. Ori now can’t wait until its bedtime.  Suzanne Burrell, Kirkcaldy

I loved Finn's Tale. Easy reading and enjoyed the adventure as well as the message behind the story. Susan King, Kinross

I liked Finn’s Tale because it was easy to read. It made you want to keep on going until the end.
Amy Roberts, aged 9, Milnathort, Kinross

I received my copy yesterday and have just finished reading it and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a great story and I have been thinking about it throughout the day. I looked forward to going back to the book to read some more so that says it all. I am not a great reader but it was easy reading and I could have done with a few books like that when I was younger for sure. John Cameron, New York

Dear Julie, Daisy (my daughter aged 10) had already read, and enjoyed Finn’s Tale.  I have just finished reading it. I much enjoyed it and particularly like your themes of the importance of nature and the environment. I, too, am rather fond of the idea of communication with animals and was glad that Finn did not lose his understanding of, or connection with, nature. It was a rattling good read and I finished it in about two hours. Gillian Galbraith – Author (Alice Rice Mysteries)

This is a magical tale. The story itself felt older in a way, like it was written years ago. That’s a complete compliment too, I think what I'm trying to say is it reminded me of old fairy type tales. You've got a writing style that is perfect for this genre; I think this will be loved by all ages. It also reminded me of the kinds of stories I read as a young girl. The kind that ignite your imagination! A very enjoyable read! Christina Fleming, Sale, Manchester.

Dear Julie, last Monday I picked up a signed copy of Finn's Tale. Since then I have read it cover to cover and enjoyed every word. Your style is refreshingly open and beautifully descriptive. Are there more books in the pipeline? Maureen Farrell, Salford, Greater Manchester

I read your book last week though and really liked it - lots of environmental ideas in it, and as someone who got bullied/rejected by the others at school, I can identify with Finn - the awful thing about that happening at that time in your life is that you have very little control over how you live your life and you don’t have the life experience to know that it will one day be better. Finn’s Tale is a book about a boy, but it is also a book that reminds us how hard the environment works to keep itself in balance for our benefit, and therefore how hard we must try to value, appreciate and protect it.” Andy Ross Business Development Director, New Caledonian Woodlands.

Hi Julie, I read Finn's tale in almost one sitting, thoroughly enjoyed it. The end of chapter 13 had me welling up and I loved the environmental messages woven into the story. Bravo you, look forward to the next installment. Regards, Caren Carter, Kirkcaldy

Hello, Neil (Karande) gave your book to my daughter Megan and she loved it. I read it too and really enjoyed it. Was just right told its message without preaching and sentimental but not slushy. Meg is a real book worm and reads lots, so she is a very good judge look forward to reading some more. Bridie Glover, Plymouth

Hi Julie,
The boys are engrossed and fascinated with the story (I love it too...it is filled with light and has introduced the boys to it too). In fact, I am looking forward to seeing what they create when we finish the story this week. Anyway, you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. Blessed be, Kimberley Musson, English Teacher, Falkland House School.
