I am originally from Cheshire where I lived until 1997. After completing a B.Ed. (hons)  in Business and Information Technology, I spent three years in Botswana teaching in a large, government secondary school in the capital, Gaborone. After a brief spell working in New Zealand, I moved to Scotland in March 2000 and now live in rural Fife, Scotland, with my son, Duncan.

It has been fifteen months since I first put pen to paper and the story of Finn was born. Like many people, I have always aspired to writing a book; however, that was certainly not my intention when I started to jot down ‘Finn’s Tale’.  I had exhausted the children’s books on the bookshelf and my son, then aged nine, was keen to hear something new. Gradually the story grew from a few short chapters to the tale it is today.

Bitten by the bug, ‘The Perils of Skinny-Dipping’ soon followed and to my sheer delight, and amazement, I had written my first, full length adult novel.

The last twelve months as a new writer have been very challenging, but very worthwhile. Not only have I learned a lot about the publishing industry, I have met hundreds of lovely people who share  my passion for creative writing as a source of inspiration and personal development.

Amongst these people are two other authors, Glenn Falconer and Craig Gilbert.
We created Purple Flame Books in December 2010 with the intention of publishing and promoting our work collectively under a brand name. Our aim is to create and make available a diverse range of fictional material, and currently offer novels, short stories and poetry. Our book sales have increased slowly and the feedback has been inspirational.

I truly believe that; life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself,
and, it’s never too late to aspire to your dreams.
This is my dream - thank you for sharing it.

On Reflection

As the years have passed me by, I no longer see my life through rose tinted glasses. I accept and acknowledge situations for what they are and move on. I have come to realise, that all experiences, whether painful or pleasurable, are equal in value in defining my thoughts and feelings, creating the person I am now, and will become. I am capable of love, hate, good and evil, and yet I am safe, for no-one can ever truly be lost.

As you follow your own path take these words with you. They are my gift to you. May they bring strength when you feel weak, and provide a light to guide you, when all other lights have gone out.
